Not Just Travel - Spanish as well!

I have had a fabulous experience of networking locally. Networking at The Beach found me a brilliant space to deliver my Spanish classes in Litllehampton, Fit m Fun. It also found me the public liability cover for my classes, and possibly a gardener to help with a thorny (bramble) problem in the garden which we’ll tackle together later this year.

So this month at Littlehampton’s networking at The Beach (restaurant/cafe), I ran a competition for an eight week course learning Spanish.

When visitors to The Beach came in that morning having breakfast cocktails (the drinks looked beautiful), they didn’t expect to be jumped on to pick the winner, but that’s what happened. (Thank you, if by some strange chance you’re reading this.)

The winner is, appropriately, a travel consultant, Andrea Norris, who’ll be joining us for Spanish lessons on a Monday afternoon (at Fit m Fun, see above!).

Andrea is a Personal Travel Consultant (based in Littlehampton) trading as Not Just Travel. She helps busy people plan holidays that feel effortless — from luxury Caribbean escapes, family summer breaks, cruises, weekend breaks and multi-centre trips to honeymoons and escorted tours — saving them hours of research and the stress of comparing endless websites.

Her customers get a single point of contact (Andrea herself), expert advice, and fully protected bookings, with access to a huge range of trusted travel partners and destination specialists.

She lived in Spain for a while and used to speak Spanish fairly well, but, like so many of us, lost confidence over time. She misses the language, loves the culture, and would like to get her Spanish back to a level where she can enjoy traveling in Spain in a more natural way - because travel feels richer when you can speak the language.

So I’m delighted that she won the competition - just being there, she will bring a valuable, interesting new dimension to the classes.( I always feel that everyone brings something - the musically inclined bring the cadence and drama of the language. Those who are wary of speaking up find their voices (so rewarding!). Those who teach bring new ideas, and anyone who has already learned some Spanish may have different ways that they’ve been taught to help remember things. It all goes into making our classes (learning experiences) richer and more memorable.)

I know already that there’s a real interest in travel in this class, so it may be something we use to learn. I have a fun resource about ‘Valeria la vaca’ who travels to lots of places starting with V when we cover B/V pronunciation - I suspect Andrea may be able to shed some interesting light on some of Valeria’s (hypothetical) adventures, and we’ll have lots of laughs.

So congratulations to Andrea - I am genuinely looking forward to having you in our class, which is already shaping up to be a small but fantastic group of people.
