La Música de Miércoles: No Pasó (No me acuerdo)
It’s the first Wednesday of the month again, and time to get a little musical.
This time I’ve very deliberately chosen ‘No me acuerdo’ because on of my Littlehampton class was felling a bit rusty on the past tense of pasar (to happen), which is - you guessed it - pasó.
My singing doesn’t really ‘cut mustard’, and although I played the song very briefly in class, it deserves a better hearing. And as my Littlehampton student loves music, I’m hoping he’ll love this.
I can’t believe my luck from a time perspective: this has already been translated into English and it is - in my humble opinion - a pretty good translation.

Points of interest
There are some pretty good past tense references in here and you can catch them just by reading and listening.
There’s a common colloquial expression in here that’s regularly used in Spain: Poner los cuernos, literally “To put on the horns”. It means ‘to be unfaithful to a romantic partner/cheat on someone’. They’ve used ‘montar los cuernos’, which has the same sense of putting them on (mounting).
At 1m 23s they’ve translated perrié as being from the verb perecer, to perish. I would probably have translated that as ‘behaved like a dog’ based on the double ‘r’ (like perro). Either way, it’s a song, the verb’s a rarity, and we get the gist. She was ruined!
Similarly, they’ve translated ‘cara dura’ (1m52) as ‘hard-faced’, but it’s more colloquially used in Spain as ‘shameless’.
Otherwise, it’s just a ditty with some key phrases worth remembering:
no me acuerdo - I don’t remember
no pasó - it didn’t happen
tener razón - to be right (correct)
me duele la cabeza - my head hurts (literally my head is hurting me)
Otherwise the past tenses are worth noting.
Advanced speakers could note the use of puede que tengan razón - it may or may not be true: puede’s in the subjunctive for the gramatically inclined, and tener razon, to be right (literally to have ‘reason’)
But for the most part, this is nice and simple, and if, like me, you love a good tune to help you remember things, you could do a lot worse than listening to this!
